Meet our DeskLodger of the Month: Zak Upcott, Firmus Consulting 🚀

Zak has been in the IT/Tech recruitment space since the age of 19 and has built his own business over the past 15 years. He’s seen first-hand how fast the tech landscape is changing - especially with AI.

When he’s not helping people find their perfect role, Zak has his sights set on an early retirement by the beach (with a lot of skydiving thrown in!).

An unofficial part of Team DeskLodge, Zak can usually be found near the coffee machine joining in with the daily chat.

We asked him some questions about his work and DeskLodge:

Why did you choose your role/industry?

I work within recruitment industry focussed on the IT/Tech sector, In all honesty I kind of fell into this sector when I was about 19. By 23 I started up on my own and 15 years later here I am.

What is the most surprising part of your job?

How quickly the tech landscape is changing especially with AI advancing!

What are your plans for your career path?

To retire ASAP to be able jump out of aeroplanes everyday and live next to the beach 😊

How does DeskLodge help you do your job?

Well, what can I say, without DeskLodge I would be very lost! I love the place and everyone! I've made great friends here and really feel part of the family! (Its got to the point where people approach me as they assume I actually work for DeskLodge now!).
