True or False - Cracking the coworking code

Coworking is here to stay! It’s great news, yet there is still a little foggy cloud over some parts of it. A few misconceptions, mingled with one or two preconceived ideas. So let’s take the True or False test and sort things out once and for all!

True or False?

You won’t get as much work done in a coworking space

Sounds about right? Working shoulder to shoulder with all kinds of people in all kinds of jobs. The noise, the distractions, the constant background hustle… But the really good coworking spaces offer various environments. So no matter how you like to work, you’ll find somewhere just right for you. Whether it’s a quiet nook, or a bustling open plan setting. Not only that, but some people love feeding off the energy and creativity coworking spaces offer. That’s why so many small businesses and freelancers opt for the coworking life.

And here’s something else to consider; Deskmag and Deskwanted did a bit of research and found that 74% of coworkers were more productive, while two thirds felt more collaborative and creative. So there you go, we think that’s a big FALSE!

Anyone can benefit from the coworking experience

Consider what a coworking space offers. It’s a flexible, friendly, inexpensive way to work, right? Those are big plus points, no matter who you are. Start-ups love it because they don’t have to find thousands of pounds renting a new office space. Freelancers love it because of the flexibility, and that they have the chance to network and be around like-minded people. Bigger companies love it because they can use it as a hub, embedding a small team into an environment where they can enter a new market, for example. While solopreneurs really love that they can come and go as they like, without being tied down to a weighty contract. We think we can safely file that claim under TRUE!

Coworking spaces are great for your mental health

Humans need humans. And spending your time in a coworking space is super-duper because that’s one thing that’s never in short supply. There are peeps everywhere! Being around people helps to boost your mood and relieve stress.

Here at DeskLodge, creating a supportive community atmosphere is one of our main priorities. Whether it’s chatting with someone in the kitchen, meeting new people over a breakfast get together, having a drink with colleagues at our regular evening socials… This stimulation and human interaction does wonders for your mental health and wellbeing. So yes, it’s TRUE!

Coworking isn’t as popular as it used to be

You might think that because of COVID and the bazillions of people forced to work from home, the attraction of coworking spaces is over. Sure, they were fun while it lasted, but the bubble has well and truly popped, and people are more than happy to be bunkered up at home. Right? Well, no. Did you know that demand for flexible workspaces grew by 22% in 2022? The demand is greater than ever! And we’re proud to be doing our bit to lead the way. FALSE!
