What is your top tip to stay productive when working from home?

Taking 5 minutes mid-morning and mid-afternoon to do a full-body stretch.

How do you switch off from work and maintain a healthy work-life balance?

I live in a one bed flat so I am trying to keep my outside space and bedroom as a no-work zone. When the day is done, depending on the weather, I go to one of these spaces to unwind.

Music – I really enjoy working with music playing (loudly). Some people can find that a distraction but for me picking new genres of music from Spotify each day has kept things mixed and fresh, while I’m doing my work.  Sometimes it’s searching for an artist I like with music to match my mood or just one of my favourite albums. Right now I’m listening to the DeskLodge Spotify playlist which is fun to hear what tunes other people like to listen too.

Also having a glass of water and lemon next to me which stays topped up all day covers me looking after my brain.

It’s been a combination of a few things that have helped me set work, and personal boundaries, to make sure I spend the right amount of time on both. Firstly, I sorted a home desk set up in a spare room, so there’s a clear separation from where I work and where I relax.

At the start of each day, I plan what time I’m taking breaks and whether I’m going to go for a walk or cycle on my indoor bike to keep myself active.

I have also set a couple of personal/home tasks for each day, whether that’s jobs around the house or watching a movie. When I switch off at 5-5.30pm I stick to being offline the best I can. Sticking to this routine has really helped.

Taking regular breaks by sitting in the garden in the sunshine!

If I have a work block or feel stressed out by the combination of work and family life - as these are all a single entity now - I step away from my home office (whether it's the sofa or my kitchen table) and go outside. The sunshine is a game changer for me and really lifts my mood! Plus, it’s great to get some fresh air in my lungs. I don’t always take regular breaks when I’m in the office but I am really feeling the benefit now.

I look forward to the end of the working day as I can plan and carry out my many hobbies from DJing, writing my blog, running my fashion business to watching films with the family, having a glass of wine (or two) with my husband or just taking a bath.

Having something to look forward to really fills me with adrenaline and helps my working day become more productive too! Now I don't have to commute/be a soccer mom, I have more spare time in the evenings and I am so grateful!
