DeskLodge's Bristol Running Club Recommendations

The sun has got its hat on, and that can only mean one thing… You need to get your trainers on too! With the weather getting better and the evenings getting lighter there’s no reason not to get going. 🏃♀️

Whether you’re a serious road runner, or a jolly jogger, running with other people is a wonderful way making new friends and having a chat while you’re clocking up the miles. So we’ve picked a handful of running clubs in Bristol to help you get fit and have fun! Running clubs are growing rapidly among Bristolians, and we can see why. Take a look and see if there are any to suit you. If not, why not do a little Google yourself. There are loads out there!

Bristol Frontrunners

If you’re after a post-work run, then the Bristol Frontrunners could be perfect. They meet every Wednesday at 6:45pm at the statue of King William III, bang in the middle of Queen Square. The session involves a dynamic warm-up, a comfortable run of up to 8km, then a gentle cool-down and stretches. After the run there’s often a little social gettogether. This is very much designed for social runners, but there is a chance for speed-play and repetitions for more experienced runners.

Phoenix Feel Good Runners

Got the morning off work? Join the Phoenix Feel Good Runners for a Monday morning meander at 9:30am, starting next to the Grain Barge/Mardyke Steps on Bristol Harbourside. This run lasts for about an hour and they make sure no-one gets left behind. If you’re a faster runner then you’re encouraged to sprint away and then loop back around behind the less-fast runners. Oh yes, and they often unwind over a latte in a local coffee shop.

Westbury Harriers Running Club

Fancy pushing yourself at lunchtime? The Westbury Harriers Running Club offers Wednesday 12-noon hill efforts. Open to over18s only and all abilities, the session is about 60 minutes, all on road. New starters welcome. It starts at Saville Road, by the Downs and costs just £1.50.For more information, please email. Or to book your place, or for details on group paces and training sessions, visit their website.

Staple Hill Runners
